Ett typiskt chaggahem brukade se ut så här innan moderniseringen trängde in i den traditionella arkitekturen. Huvudhyddan användes av familjen och djuren: kor, får, getter och ibland höns. Under det lilla skyddet till vänster finns ett spannmålsmagasin och en maskin för att skala kaffebönor. Till höger framför spannmålsmagasinet ligger en mortel för att mala majs och liknande i.Efter att folk började använda moderna byggmaterial som cement och korrugerad plåt till sina hem, fick fler och fler människor reumatism. Det här chaggaområdet ligger nära berget Kilimanjaro och har kyliga perioder under året.Foto: Bo Lundberg

The main hut is for the family and the animals:cows, sheep, goats and sometimes chickens.The little shelter on the left has a granary and coffee peeling machine standing to the left and on the right is a mortar for grinding maize and the like, placed parallel to the ground.After people started to modernize the construction materials of their homes, using cement and corrugatted iron sheets, more and more people started get rheumatism.
