During the afternoon, snowing day of 5th, March 1976,Charles Njau arrived for the first time in Sweden from Tanzania. He travelled By the British Airways to London Heathrow Airoprt. He walked around this airport admring the buildings, the huge crowds of people travelling until he missed his SAS flight to Stockholm. He managed to get another SAS flight to Stockholm that day. When He arrived in Arlanda airport, it was snow everywhere, it looked like the whole country was covered with sugar with so many people travelling and many cars everywhere! He asked for a taxi that drove him from Arlanda Airport to Snorrevägen 27, in Bromma, home of Kerstin Borgå where he stayed during his first nights in Sweden! Charles ate his first Swedish food that included pyttipanna, pancakes, pannbiff with craneberryjam and potatoes etc. in this house. He had his first dreams in Sweden in this house. And he got his first surprising experience of slippery ice when he fell leaving her house going to the subway station. Kerstin Borgå was an enthusiasic Royalist, she fed Charles everyday with magazines with beautiful pictures of Queen Silvia who was going to be married to the Swedish King later that year.Charles gave Kerstin Borgå one of his paintings entitled "Future" 1975, 110x100 cm as his expression of gratitude for her special kindness and generousity that Charles enjoyed in the warmth of her home at Snorrevägen 27, in Bromma.
