It snowed 1st, May, 1976: Charles Njau in Stockholm at Valhallavägen by the Hotel he stayed and painted the picture:" Road to Freedom". He managed to pay the bills for the Hotel after selling paintings at the exhibtions that were organized by Ingrid Axegren from Folksom.Charles was staying in this Hotel when he brought his paintings and drawings to apply for a place to study art at the Royal Academy of fine arts, Stockholm.Elisabeth Ohlsson, very special and helpful person found this Hotel for Charles in the telephone catalogue. She showed Charles also two impressive places to buy art materials in Stockholm at Sveavägen at KREATIMA and Svanström.It was around this time that Charles met Lars-Erik Sjöberg and his wife Lee Nordewald who was studying art at Konstfack. Together, they brought Charles for the first time in Sweden to captevating places like Nordic Museum, Spring Salong at Liljevalchs art Hall, National Museum, Modern Museum in Stockholm etc. In addition as presents, they gave Charles a huge book called "A History of Art" by H. W. Janson and English dictionary: "The New Merriam-Webster Pocket Dictionary". Because of these new experiences, their special knowledge about art that they shared with Charles and their kindness and the time they spent with him, to thank them for exposing him to such exhibitions and great colleections of works of Art, he gave them a painting called "Boxer" 1975.
